OSHA 10-Hour/30-Hour

OSHA Safety Training for Arborists & Tree Care Professionals

Why OSHA Outreach Training Matters in Tree Care

Working with trees comes with unique hazards — from climbing, chainsaws, working near power lines, to falling branches or equipment. Having formal safety training helps reduce injuries, protect employees, and boost client confidence.

The OSHA Outreach Training Program (10-hour or 30-hour) is designed to provide awareness-level safety instruction. It’s not a certification per se, but a validated credential demonstrating that participants have been trained in hazard recognition, prevention, and worker rights.

  • OSHA 10-Hour: geared for entry-level workers — introduces core safety topics and basic hazard awareness.
  • OSHA 30-Hour: deeper, broader training, ideal for supervisors or those with safety responsibilities.

While these courses cover general safety and health topics, when training arborists we can include tree-industry safety modules to make the content more relevant and immediately applicable in the field.

What Makes Our Arborist-Focused OSHA Training Unique

We tailor the OSHA Outreach curriculum with supplemental material especially for tree care professionals. The base OSHA training ensures you meet the standard scope of hazard awareness; then we layer in tree-specific practices and scenarios, so you gain safety knowledge that you can directly apply on job sites.

Special Emphasis on:
  • ANSI Z133 standards and how they relate to everyday arboricultural operations North American Training Solutions
  • Safe climbing, rope systems, rigging hazards, and tree failure awareness
  • Electrical hazards and overhead lines in an arboriculture context
  • Chainsaw safety, pruning, and maintenance in real-world work settings
  • Fall protection, aerial lift safety, and working at heights
  • Site hazard assessment and job briefing in tree environments
  • Emergency rescue planning specific to tree work
  • Use of PPE (helmets, eye & face protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, hearing protection)
  • Equipment safety (chippers, stump grinders, aerial lifts)
  • Worksite layout, traffic and pedestrian safety near tree operations
  • Tree failure modes, decay, and structural hazards

This approach ensures that participants not only fulfill OSHA learning objectives, but also walk away with safer practices they can use immediately in arborist work
